The Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund Mission
The mission of the Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund is to provide college scholarships, support and guidance for Houston area high school students in need of financial assistance whose potential may be unfulfilled due to circumstances beyond their control.

HISTORY
The Scholarship Fund was founded in 1991 by Linda Lorelle, her husband Lou Gregory, and Linda's colleague Martha Harvey. For several years the organization operated under the umbrella of the Houston Tennis Association awarding small scholarships, in the amount of $2,500 and above, to students in a city-wide, free program sponsored by the National Junior Tennis League. In 1997, the Scholarship Fund became a 501(c)(3) organization and changed the way it selects its winners.
Since its inception, the fund has awarded nearly $1.8 million in scholarship support to 218 students in the Houston area.

Money is Just the Beginning...

Accepting the scholarship is the beginning of a strong two-way partnership, which lasts even longer than when the student finishes college. Through the S.M.A.R.T. Series, the continued relationship between the scholars and the Scholarship Fund includes: mentoring, pre-college advising, learning tools, access to practical internships and part-time jobs, and social support through activities and gatherings.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS
Annually, the Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund awards scholarships of $12,000, following an in-depth and personal application process. Applicants must demonstrate at least average ability in their scholastic achievements and show qualities of strong character and determination. When selecting a Linda Lorelle Scholar, the scholarship committee considers all circumstances provided by the applicant, the school, and his or her family. Students must be a sophomore or junior currently attending an Independent School District, Private, or Charter school within Harris or Fort Bend counties.

  • SEMINARS AND LEARNING TOOLS
All the new scholarship recipients are required to attend a series of seminars during their junior/senior year to help them prepare for college. Topics include how to fill out the college application, where to find additional financial support, and what to expect on campus. Scholars are given access to computer training, SAT prep courses, college counseling, and other opportunities to give them what they need to be successful.

  • Laptop and Computer Training
It is our goal to obtain gently used laptops for our scholars.

  • INTERNSHIPS/JOB BANK
The Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund works with the community and its supporters to provide quality internships and jobs for scholarship recipients.

  • FELLOWSHIP FUND
A LLSF Scholar can apply for additional funds once their initial scholarship is depleted.  Awarding of a fellowship is a one time opportunity for the scholars.  The additional funds can be applied toward undergraduate or graduate studies.
