ANNA MARIA BARBA-POINTDEXTER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Anna Maria Barba-Poindexter is the Executive Director for the Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund, Inc. since March 1, 2004:

Ms. Barba-Poindexter has been active in the Houston charity development arena since 1990, having served in positions with the University of Houston Law School Foundation, the Memorial Hermann Foundation, Community Partners, and most recently with SEARCH. She is a past board member of the Houston Chapter Association of Fund Raising Professionals and has been recognized for her work with awards from the People to People Ambassador Program of Professional Philanthropists to Cuba, Memorial Herman Healthcare System, NASA Mexican American Engineering Society, University of Houston Hispanic Law Student Association, and Outstanding Women of America.

In her position as Executive Director, Ms. Barba-Poindexter is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the charity, as well as development and fund raising activities. “We are thrilled to have someone with Anna’s background, experience and passion to help lead us in the next phase of our development,” stated Linda Lorelle, founder of the charity and Chairwoman of the Board. Anna is first generation Mexican-American and grew up in the housing projects of Los Angeles and can relate to the high school kids we are helping to attend college. “We have many very exciting things happening in our charity right now and we couldn’t be more pleased to have Anna on board,” added Ms. Lorelle.

The Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund is a 17-year-old public charity that provides scholarships and support services to deserving high school students each year. In addition to the substantial $15,000 scholarship, one of the largest in Houston, Lorelle Scholars also receive mentoring, seminar training, college preparatory conference and awareness programs to help them succeed in college and in life
